Senior Clinical Research Expert (Gut health specialisation)
Are you fascinated by the role of microbiota and probiotics in human health, especially in gut-related diseases? Would you like to contribute to increasing knowledge on the impact of probiotics on our health and quality of life? And would you like to combine your substantive expertise with organisational skills to develop science-based products? Then this is the position for you!
Your role
As Senior Clinical Research Expert, you will be part of Winclove Probiotics’ Patient-Centered Clinical Development team. You will supervise and set up scientific studies as part of the development of probiotic formulations for specific indications, both on clinical and patient-relevant outcome measures. This substantiation takes place on existing files as well as on newly developed formulations. You will be part of a multidisciplinary product development team and be in close contact with other R&D and also commercial teams.
We are looking for a Senior CRE specifically on our basic theme of gastrointestinal-related disorders, for which we develop products and conduct research. In addition, this may be extended to other research fields in the future.
Your work will include:
- setting up new studies with clinical e/o patient-relevant outcome measures within various strategic themes. You do this in collaboration with hospitals, knowledge institutes and other research centres. This involves small bilateral collaborations and multidisciplinary collaborative grant projects;
- proactively building and maintaining a network of KOLs in relation to these strategic themes;
- maintaining your clinical, scientific and technical expertise in the relevant probiotic formulations and related areas;
- mapping promising indications for probiotics. ‘Medical need’ and ‘patient need’ we achieve by scouting indications related to or outside the strategic themes;
- valorising study results, for instance through presentations at scientific and clinical conferences, supporting B2B customers, contributing to marketing materials, and implementation in clinical practice;
- collaborating with external knowledge and healthcare institutions, as well as internal teams at Winclove;
- travelling (internationally) to visit collaborative partners, scientific conferences and customers.
What do we ask of you?
For this position, we are looking for someone with the following education/competencies:
- a background in life sciences, nutrition & health, medicine, biomedical sciences or related studies at wo level (PhD is an advantage);
- experience in setting up and managing clinical studies, e.g. as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA), or Medical Science Liaison (MSL), and experience with (inter)national grant programmes is an advantage;
- experience with and knowledge of the gut microbiome and related disorders, and a good network in this area;
- interest and expertise in the role of microbiota and probiotics on intestinal health;
- experience with the development of products aimed at specific indications (food supplements or medicines) and thinking in terms of technology readiness levels (TRLs) is an advantage;
- you are independent, and can also work well together;
- you take initiative and communicate effectively with various stakeholders (such as patients, researchers, clinicians, commercial and government relations);
- you are able to work in a structured way and have good reporting and presentation skills;
- strong social and communication skills (Dutch and English).
